Veena James 

Veena is a registered social worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers. She completed Master of Social Work degree along with Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Calicut, India. She took additional professional training in Counselling, TA Psychology & Psychotherapy Skills from CEED International & KCPA India. 

 

Veena has extensive training across a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric facilities, outpatient specialty hospitals, de-addiction centres, school, community social work settings & private practice. 

She is familiar with social work methods, client centered counselling, psycho-social assessments and life skills training. She continues to seek ongoing updates to her skills and knowledge base. Veena believes in working in partnership with clients to utilize their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. She also realizes how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being including their physical health, support systems (family, friends, etc.), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process.

Eric utilizes a combination of Cognitive Therapy strategies along with Narrative Therapy and Systems Theory.  Eric uses these evidence based strategies to help his clients affected by anxiety, depression, stress, marital issues, relationship issues, grief, or substance abuse.  Eric adjusts his approach to meet the client’s needs and personality.  


Eric also has training in suicide prevention (ASIST), Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), and a certificate in dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Samantha is a graduate of Briercrest Seminary with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has experience with a wide range of people including couples, individuals, children, and teens, including those in the LGBTQ+ community and those with ASD and/or ADHD. 

Samantha uses narrative, emotionally focused(EFT), cognitive behavioural (CBT), Gottman, and family systems therapeutic techniques.

Shelby is a registered social worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers and is covered under most EFAP insurance providers.

 

Shelby has a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Waterloo, along with Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degrees from the University of Calgary and University of Lethbridge, respectively.

 

She has additional training in working with those who have experienced trauma and is currently completing a Trauma Certificate with Wilfrid Laurier University. Shelby has completed Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapy and is qualified to practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

Shelby’s professional background includes working as an addiction and mental health counsellor, supporting adults with developmental disabilities, and several years working for the public service.  

She utilizes mindfulness and a strength based, client centered and trauma informed approach to walk with those seeking counselling on their journey of healing, change and recovery.

Emilee is a graduate of Briercrest Seminary with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.

 

Emilee comes to counselling from a background of Early Childhood Education and takes this experience mixed with the counselling education and experience to work with people of all ages. 

 

Emilee walks with individuals and/or families through life, and its inevitable wounds, in order to see health and growth in life.

Pat works part-time at Burden Bearers and is currently enjoying her cat and her horses and semi-retirement.

She has a background in nursing, parenting, and grand-parenting. Counselling from an attachment based perspective, she works with clients who struggle with grief, anxiety, depression and medical issues. 
She specializes in working with individuals who have suffered childhood sexual abuse and with couples using Emotion Focused Therapy.


Pat refers to herself as a curious counsellor and invites a sense of wonder in her clients also – using Narrative Therapy to wonder about the problem story and what life would be like without the problem kind of story.
